No-exam life insurance
Which applicants can skip exams through accelerated underwriting, the process involved, and your options if you don't qualify.
Most major carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: applicants in certain age and amount ranges get approval decisions based on application data, prescription records, driving history and other information—without a physical exam. Some approvals arrive within 24 hours. Every quote here indicates whether the particular product requires an exam, might need one, or can skip it.
What it changes
Going without an exam doesn't bypass underwriting—your information is still reviewed, and a policy granted based on wrong information can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier flags questions based on their data, they might still require an exam or tests; you'll have the choice to proceed or not.
Who tends to qualify
Typically those younger than about 60 who want coverage below the carrier's accelerated underwriting cap, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use in the past year or longer. Several carriers will use recent doctor's tests with blood work in place of a separate exam.
Should an exam be necessary, it's normally a 20–30 minute appointment with a paramedic at your location in the Danville area, completely free. For many healthy applicants, exam results actually improve their rate class, so it might work in your favor.
